Method and calculation to get the size of the AgriTech market
We start from the money pool in farming. The World Bank reports approximately $4.49 trillion of agriculture value added in 2024.
However, value added is not the same as spending. Farmers also buy large amounts of inputs that do not appear as value added in the statistics.
So we use a second approach and build from the main farm-gate input categories plus a smaller technology and services layer.
These input categories exist in every country every year. Fertilizers are large and global with a baseline of $182.3 billion in 2024 and demand of approximately 200 million nutrient tonnes.
