Key valuation trends in the satellite internet market
Insights
- Starlink's estimated midpoint valuation of $600B is roughly 2,222 times the market median, which shows how one scaled satellite internet network can dominate the economics of an entire industry.
- OneWeb raised about $5.3B before receiving a $3.4B transaction valuation, meaning disclosed capital exceeded the valuation by approximately 56%, a clear example of constellation financing risk.
- Eutelsat and OneWeb absorbed around $8.0B of disclosed funding but carry only $6.7B in combined value, suggesting strategic importance does not guarantee strong capital efficiency.
- Astranis reached a $2.8B valuation after raising $604M, producing a valuation-to-funding ratio of about 4.6 times and supporting the case for focused small-GEO satellite architectures.
- Viasat's $10.4B market value is more than 53 times its reported $195M in funding, one of the strongest capital productivity ratios among established satellite connectivity operators.
- Fleet Space Technologies is valued at $550M–$700M after raising $171M, which suggests specialized mineral exploration services may monetize satellite infrastructure more efficiently than general connectivity networks.
- Intellian Technologies reached a $500M–$560M public valuation with only $26M of recorded funding, showing how satellite antenna manufacturers can create value without financing a full constellation.
- Swarm Technologies sold for $524M after raising $28M, an acquisition multiple of almost 19 times funding that highlights the strategic value of spectrum rights, licenses, and deployed satellite networks.
- Astranis, Fleet Space Technologies, Skylo Technologies, and ALL.SPACE raised about $1.1B combined and carry approximately $3.9B–$4.2B in value, indicating better capital productivity than many megaconstellation projects.
- Phasor Solutions exited for $7M after raising $19M, showing that differentiated satellite antenna technology can still destroy capital when commercialization and market timing do not align.
A few word about our methodology
As you can see, we built a database that ranks startups and companies in the satellite internet market based on their current valuation.
Estimating satellite internet startup valuations is not always straightforward. Many private companies do not disclose their valuation, while public companies can experience significant daily changes in market capitalization.
Satellite internet businesses also operate across different parts of the value chain. The ranking includes constellation operators, direct-to-device networks, satellite broadband providers, antenna manufacturers, connectivity platforms, and related communications infrastructure companies.
To build this ranking, we applied a structured valuation methodology and cross-checked information across multiple reliable sources.
Whenever possible, we relied on direct disclosures. These include announced valuations from completed funding rounds, public filings for listed satellite companies, and official acquisition prices.
When a satellite internet company is publicly listed, we use its current market capitalization as the reference valuation.
If a company was acquired and no independent valuation can reasonably be estimated today, we use the acquisition price as the main reference point.
When a satellite startup recently raised capital but did not disclose its valuation, we estimate the implied valuation using typical dilution levels for that stage of fundraising.
In some cases, we estimate valuations using operating metrics such as revenue, annual recurring revenue, subscriber growth, contracted backlog, satellite capacity, or customer traction.
We combine these operating indicators with valuation multiples from comparable satellite operators, communications infrastructure companies, antenna manufacturers, and connectivity platforms.
When direct financial data is not available, we may rely on carefully selected comparable companies and other signals such as satellite deployments, spectrum access, regulatory approvals, commercial contracts, investor quality, and product traction.
We treat announced constellation investment plans cautiously. A large planned network or financing requirement does not automatically support a high present valuation.
We also separate operational businesses from companies that are still developing networks, payloads, terminals, or satellite constellations. Commercial maturity can have a major effect on valuation.
All estimates follow a strict evidence hierarchy. Recent funding rounds with announced valuations carry the most weight, followed by public market data, acquisition values, strong operating metrics, and comparable company analysis.
We carefully evaluate the age of every data point. Recent information carries more weight, while older data is treated cautiously and adjusted conservatively when necessary.
Whenever information is uncertain or incomplete, we clearly distinguish between confirmed facts and reasonable inferences.
Because valuation data is not always fully public, each satellite internet company in the ranking is assigned a confidence level based on the reliability, recency, and consistency of the available evidence.
Full confidence means the valuation is supported by strong and recent evidence. Strong confidence means the estimate is well supported but includes minor inference. Partial confidence means the estimate relies more heavily on indirect signals. Low confidence means available information is limited or inconsistent.
When confidence is lower, we take a more conservative approach by widening the valuation range. This helps reflect the uncertainty and increases the probability that the true valuation falls within the estimated range.
In a world where LLMs hallucinate and unreliable information is everywhere, our goal is simple: provide data you can trust.
If you want the full detail on a specific valuation estimate, feel free to contact us and we will gladly explain.
Finally, know that we update the dataset once per month, so come back here if you need fresh information.

NEW MARKET PITCH TEAM
We track new markets so founders and investors can move fasterWe build living “market pitch” documents for emerging markets: from AI to synthetic biology and new proteins. Instead of digging through outdated PDFs, random blog posts, and hallucinated LLM answers, our clients get a clean, visual, always-updated view of what’s really happening. We map the key players, deals, regulations, metrics and signals that matter so you can decide faster whether a market is worth your time. Want to know more? Check out our about page. How we created this content 🔎📝
At New Market Pitch, we kept seeing the same problem: when you look at a new market, the data is either missing, paywalled, or buried in 300-page reports that feel like they were written in the 80s. On the other side, LLMs and random blog posts give you confident answers with no sources, and sometimes they just make things up. That’s not good enough when you’re about to invest real money or launch a company.
So we decided to fix the experience. For each market we cover, we build a structured database and update it on a regular basis. We track funding rounds, fund memos, M&A moves, partnerships, new products, policy changes, and the real activity of startups and incumbents. Then we turn all of that into a clear “market pitch” that shows where the opportunities are and how people actually win in that space.
Every key data point is checked, sourced, and put back into context by our team. That’s how we can give you both speed and reliability: fast coverage of new markets, without the usual guesswork.
