Healthcare AI Startup Funding 2025-2026

In our healthcare AI market deck, you will find everything you need to understand the market
SUMMARY
This report analyzes 156 identified equity transactions involving pure-play healthcare AI companies between August 2025 and September 2026. We only include rounds of $300K or more and companies where more than 80% of activity fits healthcare AI.
The identified sample represents at least $7.29B raised across 145 unique companies. The median round is $20M, compared with a $46.7M average.
Capital is concentrated at the top. Isomorphic Labs' $2.1B Series B alone represents 28.8% of identified capital, while the top 3 deals represent 37.7% and the top 10 reach 51.2%.
Only 14 rounds are $100M or larger, but they account for 56.9% of identified capital. Most healthcare AI financings are much smaller than the headline market totals suggest.
Care Workflow AI leads by deal count with 48 transactions. Life Science AI follows with 43 deals but leads overwhelmingly on capital, with at least $3.81B raised.
The healthcare AI market is early-stage by activity and later-stage by dollars. Seed and Series A account for 67.9% of deals but only 25.2% of capital.
Series B and later stages plus Growth Equity represent only 25.0% of transactions but 71.0% of identified capital.
Repeat fundraising is visible but not dominant. Only nine companies raised multiple times, with Chai Discovery and Aureka Biotechnologies each appearing three times.
Geography is fully captured for only part of the supplied dataset. Within the verified subset, North America dominates, but the missing region fields make a full global split premature.
Investor syndicate extraction is also incomplete, so we do not publish a repeat-investor ranking that the underlying data cannot yet support.

In our healthcare AI market deck, we identify pain points entrepreneurs should prioritize
OUR METHODOLOGY TO BUILD THIS TRACKER
We reviewed healthcare AI equity financings identified between August 2025 and September 2026. A company counts as pure-play when more than 80% of its activity is dedicated to AI software or models purpose-built for healthcare providers, payers, life sciences companies, medtech firms, or public health bodies.
We only include equity rounds of $300K or more. Debt, grants, and non-equity financing are excluded. When a financing combines equity and debt, only the disclosed equity portion is counted.
This changes several headline amounts. Nitra's later financing is counted at $50M of equity rather than $187M, Care.fi at $5M rather than $8M, and Craif at approximately $30.7M rather than its larger headline financing.
Aggregate funding announcements are also excluded when individual rounds cannot be separated. Earendil Labs' reported $787M across multiple financings is not counted as one transaction, while Blossom and Hike Medical are excluded because their disclosed totals cannot be cleanly allocated between rounds.
The pure-play rule also excludes consumer wellness products and horizontal AI tools that happen to serve healthcare. The supplied research specifically excludes examples such as Clair Health, Throne Science, Signos, Trase, and Pearl Health.
Some transactions from December 2025 onward still lack complete source, investor, region, or description fields in the supplied research. Those fields are left blank rather than inferred.
How active has fundraising been in the healthcare AI market?
As of September 2026, fundraising in the healthcare AI market has been highly active over the past 12 months. The dataset identifies 156 equity transactions worth at least $7.29B across 145 companies.
Deal flow is persistent rather than dependent on a few busy weeks. From August 2025 through August 2026, the dataset contains 155 transactions, with March 2026 the busiest month at 17 deals and October 2025 close behind at 16.
Dollar flow is much more volatile. May 2026 contributes roughly $2.20B largely because Isomorphic Labs raised $2.1B in a single Series B.
That makes deal count a useful counterweight to headline capital totals. The healthcare AI market has broad financing activity even when one transaction dominates a month's dollars.
For more context on the companies behind this activity, see our analysis of the healthcare AI market.
How concentrated has fundraising been in the healthcare AI market?
As of September 2026, healthcare AI fundraising is concentrated by dollars but broad by company count over the past 12 months. Isomorphic Labs' $2.1B financing alone represents 28.8% of identified capital.
The top 3 deals account for 37.7% of capital, the top 5 reach 42.5%, and the top 10 represent 51.2%. Roughly half of identified funding therefore sits in only ten transactions.
That concentration does not mean only a few companies can raise. The dataset contains 145 unique companies, so the narrowness appears mainly in check size rather than the number of funded businesses.
This distinction matters when reading market growth. A surge in total dollars can reflect stronger conviction in a few leaders rather than stronger financing conditions for the whole healthcare AI market. We examine that broader picture in our Healthcare AI market report.
How much of the healthcare AI funding signal is driven by outliers?
As of September 2026, outliers drive a large part of the healthcare AI funding signal over the past 12 months. Only 14 deals are $100M or larger, yet they account for 56.9% of identified capital.
The Isomorphic Labs round is the clearest example. Removing that one $2.1B financing reduces identified funding from at least $7.29B to roughly $5.19B.
The typical financing barely changes when that deal disappears. The median round remains around $20M, which shows why the median is more representative than the average for most healthcare AI companies.
The same pattern appears at the $50M threshold. Most transactions are below $50M, but the smaller number above that threshold captures most market dollars.

Is the healthcare AI market broad with many targets, or narrow with few fundable companies?
As of September 2026, the healthcare AI market is broad by company count over the past 12 months. The dataset includes 156 transactions across 145 unique companies.
Most companies appear only once, so the activity is not simply the same small group repeatedly raising capital. Only nine companies have multiple identified financings during the study window.
Early-stage activity reinforces that breadth. Seed and Series A account for 106 transactions, or 67.9% of identified deals.
The company base also spans six distinct categories. Care Workflow AI contributes 48 deals, Life Science AI 43, Clinical AI Tools 26, Diagnostic AI Software 14, Revenue Cycle AI 14, and Payer AI Platforms 11.
Is healthcare AI mostly an early-stage formation market or a late-stage scaling market?
As of September 2026, healthcare AI is early-stage by deal count but later-stage by capital over the past 12 months. Seed and Series A represent 67.9% of transactions but only 25.2% of identified dollars.
Series B and later stages plus Growth Equity account for only 25.0% of deals but 71.0% of capital. Larger checks are therefore concentrated among a much smaller group of companies.
Series A is the most common stage, with 68 identified transactions. Series B has far fewer deals, but its dollar total is heavily lifted by the $2.1B Isomorphic Labs financing.
The healthcare AI market should therefore not be described as simply early or late stage. It has broad company formation underneath a smaller layer of heavily capitalized scale-ups.
We cover these stage dynamics in more detail in our Healthcare AI market analysis.
Which categories attract the most investor attention in healthcare AI?
As of September 2026, Care Workflow AI attracts the most investor attention by deal count over the past 12 months, with 48 transactions. Life Science AI follows with 43, while Clinical AI Tools has 26.
Together, those three categories account for 117 of 156 identified deals, or 75.0% of market activity.
The remaining categories are smaller but still meaningful. Diagnostic AI Software and Revenue Cycle AI each contribute 14 deals, while Payer AI Platforms contributes 11.
The ranking changes when measured by dollars. Life Science AI leads with at least $3.81B, showing that investor attention and investor capital intensity are not the same thing.

Which categories attract disproportionately large checks in the healthcare AI market?
As of September 2026, Life Science AI attracts disproportionately large checks in the healthcare AI market over the past 12 months. It represents 27.6% of identified deals but 52.2% of identified capital.
The average Life Science AI financing is about $88.5M. Clinical AI Tools averages roughly $38.6M, while Care Workflow AI averages about $26.2M.
Care Workflow AI shows the opposite pattern: it leads the market on deal count but captures only around 17.3% of capital. Investors are funding many workflow companies without allocating the same amount per company.
Life Science AI therefore has the strongest check-size signal in the dataset. Its economics are influenced by capital-intensive drug discovery platforms and several unusually large rounds.
For a deeper category comparison, see our Healthcare AI report covering category economics.
Which geographies matter most for fundraising in the healthcare AI market?
As of September 2026, North America dominates the part of the healthcare AI dataset with verified geography over the past 12 months. It accounts for 41 of 48 region-coded transactions and roughly $1.45B of $1.69B in region-coded capital.
Europe contributes 4 verified deals and about $147.4M. Asia-Pacific contributes 3 deals and roughly $92.4M.
The signal is strong, but it should not be extrapolated mechanically to the entire dataset. Region data is missing for most transactions from December 2025 onward.
The defensible conclusion is that North America clearly matters, while the exact global split still needs completion before precise market-wide percentages are published.
Is the healthcare AI opportunity set broad or concentrated in one hub?
As of September 2026, the available geography data suggests strong North American concentration, but it does not prove that the entire healthcare AI opportunity set is concentrated in one hub over the past 12 months.
Only 48 of 156 transactions currently have verified region data. Within those 48, North America accounts for more than 85% of both transactions and capital.
At the company and category level, however, the opportunity set is clearly broad. The dataset contains 145 companies across six healthcare AI categories.
The strongest interpretation is therefore geographic concentration within the verified subset, alongside broad company formation across the market itself.

Is healthcare AI a market of small experiments or scaled financings?
As of September 2026, healthcare AI combines a large base of smaller financings with a much smaller group of scaled rounds over the past 12 months. The median identified deal is $20M, compared with a $46.7M average.
About 80.8% of identified transactions are below $50M. Yet deals of $50M or more account for roughly 70.3% of identified capital.
Only 14 deals reach $100M or more, but those rounds alone represent 56.9% of capital. Large financings therefore matter far more to market dollars than to deal count.
The healthcare AI market is best read as a barbell: many companies can still raise modest rounds, while most capital concentrates in a much smaller group of scaled platforms.

Who are the investors that appear the most in healthcare AI fundraising?
As of September 2026, the supplied research does not yet support a reliable ranking of the investors appearing most often in healthcare AI fundraising over the past 12 months.
The investor syndicates were not fully extracted for the later transactions, so a repeat-investor ranking would mix verified participation with missing data.
The company-level repeat signal is clearer. Chai Discovery and Aureka Biotechnologies each appear in three financings, while Arintra, Doctronic, Nitra, Assort Health, Onos Health, Assured, and OpenEvidence each appear twice.
That is useful because repeat fundraising can indicate sustained investor conviction. But it should not be confused with evidence that the same investors repeatedly backed those companies.

INSIGHTS
The insights below come from the 156 identified healthcare AI transactions, the explicit exclusions in the research, and the patterns visible across categories, stages, company repetition, and round sizes.
Healthcare AI is unusually sensitive to market definition. Including AI used in pharma and biotech R&D brings Isomorphic Labs and repeated Chai Discovery financings into scope, materially changing the market's capital profile.
One financing can reshape the entire annual narrative. Isomorphic Labs' $2.1B round represents 28.8% of identified capital, so total funding growth can jump without a comparable increase in company formation.
The median financing is more useful than the average for understanding the typical company. A $20M median versus a $46.7M average shows how strongly large outliers pull the market upward.
Large rounds are rare but economically dominant. Only 9.0% of identified deals are $100M or larger, yet they absorb 56.9% of identified capital.
The same asymmetry appears below that threshold. More than four-fifths of transactions are below $50M, while deals of $50M or more capture roughly 70.3% of capital.
Care Workflow AI is the broadest startup formation zone. It leads with 48 deals but only around 17.3% of capital, indicating frequent funding without unusually large average checks.
Life Science AI has the opposite profile. It represents 27.6% of deals but 52.2% of capital, making each financing event far more economically significant on average.
That makes category deal counts potentially misleading. The category producing the most financings is not necessarily the category receiving the most investor capital.
Series A dominates activity with 68 identified rounds. It is the clearest evidence that healthcare AI continues to produce a broad pipeline of emerging companies.
Later stages dominate dollars. Series B and later rounds plus Growth Equity account for a minority of transactions but roughly 71% of capital.
Series B statistics need particular caution. Isomorphic Labs' $2.1B round alone can make the stage appear far more heavily funded than the typical Series B company.
Healthcare AI is therefore both a formation market and a scaling market. Which description looks correct depends almost entirely on whether the reader measures companies or dollars.
Repeat fundraising is uncommon enough to carry information. Only nine companies appear multiple times, making rapid re-raising a useful signal of investor conviction and company momentum.
Chai Discovery is particularly notable because it appears at Series A, Series B, and Series C inside the study window. A sequence like that says more about financing velocity than a single large round.
Transaction-level accounting is essential in healthcare AI. Companies such as Chai Discovery, Aureka Biotechnologies, Assort Health, Arintra, OpenEvidence, Onos Health, Doctronic, Assured, and Nitra all have multiple financing events that should remain separate.
Headline financing amounts can materially overstate equity activity. Nitra, Care.fi, and Craif all required separating equity from debt or other financing facilities.
