Insights
- The 47 earth observation funding deals represent almost $1.67 billion in disclosed funding between Q1 2024 and Q2 2026.
- Earth observation companies raised about $906 million during the first half of 2026. This was more than three times the amount recorded during all of 2025.
- ICEYE accounted for $775 million across three separate rounds. This represented about 46% of all earth observation funding in the dataset.
- The three largest earth observation deals were ICEYE's $520 million round, ICEYE's $162 million round, and Xoople's $130 million round.
- SAR satellite companies received several of the largest investments. Investors appear to value all-weather imagery for defense, maritime monitoring, and disaster response.
- Thermal intelligence became another important earth observation category. Hydrosat, constellr, SatVu, OroraTech, Aistech Space, and SatLeo Labs all raised funding.
- Earth observation investors supported both satellite operators and software companies. Wherobots, SkyFi, LiveEO, Overstory, Climate X, and AiDASH focus heavily on turning imagery into useful decisions.
- Defense intelligence became more visible in the earth observation market during 2025 and 2026. Several companies now describe national security as a central use case.
- Repeat funding rounds for ICEYE, Xoople, LiveEO, GalaxEye, Neural Earth, OroraTech, SatLeo Labs, and SatVu show that investors continue to support proven earth observation platforms.
Summary table of the funding deals for the earth observation market since 2024
We define the earth observation market as satellite and aerial data products that observe Earth and turn imagery into commercial intelligence.
It includes Optical Satellite Imagery, SAR Imagery, Geospatial Analytics, Climate Monitoring, Agriculture Intelligence, and Defense Intelligence.
It excludes broader adjacent markets unless the product is built specifically for this use case.
We focused exclusively on pure players, defined as companies with at least 70–80% of their business directly tied to the earth observation market.
Our analysis has been done at a global level with a minimum funding threshold of $300k.
