AI accounting funding tracker (159 deals)

Whether you're building or investing in the AI accounting market, our report covers everything you need to know: the players, the money, and what's coming next.
Summary
The AI accounting funding tracker (159 deals) records approximately $3.09 billion raised by 129 companies between January 2024 and September 23, 2026. It's a substantial venture capital market, but more than half the money went into just 18 financings of at least $50 million.
The typical AI accounting financing is much smaller than the headline suggests. The median deal is $7.8 million, compared with an average of $19.42 million, and 71.1% of transactions are below $20 million. Remove the 18 largest financing brackets, and recorded capital drops to approximately $1.51 billion.
Most funded companies appear only once in the research period. Of the 129 businesses, 106 have a single recorded financing and just 23 appear more than once, although some one-time appearances involve established companies with substantial earlier funding histories.
Rillet leads the ranking with $208.5 million raised during the period, followed by Xelix at $160 million and Numeral at $153 million. Yet the ten largest recipients account for 41.7% of total funding, suggesting that the market supports several different large-scale business models rather than one dominant winner.
Tax Accounting AI leads with $784.79 million across 35 deals, followed by AI Bookkeeping at $611.01 million across another 35. Together, these categories account for around 45% of market capital, reflecting investor interest in both specialized tax compliance and broader accounting automation.
Some smaller categories depend heavily on one exceptional company. Xelix alone accounts for 83.4% of the $191.8 million recorded in Accounts Payable Automation, while Reconciliation Automation has only two funded companies in the dataset.
Follow-on financing absorbs most of the money. Just 64 first-financing transactions represent $303.32 million, while 95 follow-ons account for approximately $2.78 billion, showing how strongly larger commitments concentrate around companies with previous funding histories.
The funding ladder narrows considerably after Series A. We recorded 85 Seed rounds and 35 Series A deals, compared with 19 Series B and only six Series C financings. Median checks rise from $4.37 million at Seed to $100 million at Series C.
North America captures 70.7% of recorded capital, and its median deal reaches $14 million, compared with $4.29 million in Europe. European funding is spread across a meaningful startup population, but much of its largest financing activity depends on a few businesses such as Xelix, Fonoa and DataSnipper.
The biggest strategic divide is between startups automating individual accounting tasks and companies trying to own the underlying financial system. Rillet and Campfire are pursuing AI-native ERP platforms, while businesses such as Blue J, Xelix and DataSnipper have attracted substantial backing around more specialized workflows.
The market is active, but its headline funding total should not be mistaken for the amount of capital available to an ordinary startup. Today, the strongest evidence points to a broad early-stage ecosystem alongside a much smaller group of companies capable of raising large enterprise-software rounds.

In our research about AI accounting tools, we turn what is vague and complex into simple, useful visuals. Market maps like this one show you at a glance where every startup stands.
Is AI accounting really a $3 billion funding market?
AI accounting has attracted approximately $3.09 billion across 159 financing deals, making it a serious venture capital market, although a relatively small group of large transactions accounts for much of that money.
We identified 129 companies that raised funding between January 1, 2024, and September 23, 2026. These businesses cover tax research, bookkeeping, financial close, audit, reconciliation, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
The largest financings show how far the market has already developed. Xelix raised $160 million in July 2025, Blue J secured $122 million in August 2025, and Fonoa announced $110 million in May 2026. Rillet raised several rounds in quick succession, including a $100 million Series C.
Still, the market looks quite different once we remove the biggest checks. Excluding rounds of $50 million or more leaves approximately $1.51 billion, less than half of the headline amount. Just 18 transactions account for 51% of recorded funding.
We've therefore found a market with substantial financial backing across several accounting applications, although most startups operate on a much smaller budget than the billion-dollar aggregate suggests.
How many AI accounting startups are actually getting funded?
The AI accounting market currently includes 129 funded companies in our research, but only 23 raised capital more than once during the period.
Most businesses appear in a single financing record. Specifically, 106 companies raised once, 17 appeared twice, and six had at least three recorded transactions.
That last group includes companies such as Rillet and Numeral, which have managed to attract investors repeatedly while developing their products and expanding their customer bases.
There's an important difference between appearing once in our research and having raised only once in a company's lifetime. Xelix, Blue J and Fonoa each have one recorded financing despite having substantial previous operating and funding histories.
The company count also reveals how diverse AI accounting has become. The 129 businesses are distributed across eight product categories, with tax accounting and bookkeeping having the largest populations.
For a market still dominated by relatively young businesses, that's already a sizeable number of funded competitors.

Your time is limited. In our market report about AI accounting tools, we put numbers on each part of the market, so you can see where it makes sense to focus.
How much money does a typical AI accounting startup raise?
A typical AI accounting financing is around $7.8 million, considerably less than the $19.42 million average reported across the market.
Large financings push the average upward. A founder looking at the average might imagine that raising $20 million is relatively normal, when the majority of observed transactions are smaller.
At the company level, the median amount raised during our research period is $8.25 million, against an average of $23.94 million. Approximately 35.7% of companies received no more than $5 million.
Even within the smaller financing categories, there's a wide range. Some businesses secure relatively modest early checks to develop specialized accounting tools. Others raise $10 million to $20 million to expand sales, integrate with existing accounting software or serve larger clients.
The clearest dividing line appears around $50 million. Only 18 transactions reached that level, yet they account for about half of all recorded capital.
| Financing size | Deals | Share of deals | Capital raised | Capital share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Below $5M | 54 | 34.0% | $134.31M | 4.3% |
| $5M to below $20M | 59 | 37.1% | $584.76M | 18.9% |
| $20M to below $50M | 28 | 17.6% | $793.37M | 25.7% |
| $50M to below $100M | 9 | 5.7% | $583.60M | 18.9% |
| $100M+ | 9 | 5.7% | $992.00M | 32.1% |
| Total | 159 | 100% | $3,088.04M | 100% |
Which AI accounting startups have raised the most money?
Rillet leads our AI accounting funding ranking with $208.5 million raised during the period, followed by Xelix at $160 million and Numeral at $153 million.
What makes this ranking interesting is the variety of products involved. Rillet and Campfire build AI-native accounting and ERP platforms. Xelix focuses on accounts payable controls, Blue J provides tax research technology, and DataSnipper automates work for audit and finance teams.
We also found very different fundraising histories among the leaders. Rillet accumulated its funding across four recorded rounds, while Numeral appears three times and Basis twice. Meanwhile, Xelix, Fonoa and DataSnipper each appear through one major financing.
The ten largest companies captured 41.7% of the market's recorded funding. The largest five accounted for 25.2%, with no individual company exceeding 7%.
There is meaningful room for multiple large businesses here. But the companies capable of attracting nine-figure financing remain relatively rare.
| Company | Recorded rounds | Capital raised |
|---|---|---|
| Rillet | 4 | $208.5M |
| Xelix | 1 | $160M |
| Numeral | 3 | $153M |
| Basis | 2 | $134M |
| Blue J | 1 | $122M |
| Fonoa | 1 | $110M |
| Campfire | 2 | $100M |
| DataSnipper | 1 | $100M |
| FloQast | 1 | $100M |
| FundGuard | 1 | $100M |

In our document detailing everything you need to know about AI accounting, we always try to gather several sources and make estimates that make sense, so you can work with solid numbers.
Which part of AI accounting is getting the most funding?
Tax Accounting AI currently attracts the most venture funding, with approximately $784.79 million across 35 deals, while AI Bookkeeping follows with $611.01 million.
Tax technology has benefited from a particularly strong group of funded businesses. Blue J raised $122 million to expand its AI-powered tax research platform. Fonoa secured $110 million while building infrastructure for international tax compliance. Accordance and other younger companies are targeting tax and accounting professionals with AI research assistants.
Bookkeeping is almost as active, also recording 35 financings. Its companies range from young automation startups to platforms aiming to replace established accounting systems.
Financial Close Automation is the next major category, with $385.75 million across just ten companies. Audit & Compliance AI and Accounts Receivable Automation follow with approximately $350 million and $333 million respectively.
The difference between company counts and funding amounts is worth examining. Tax AI has 31 funded companies, while financial close has ten. The latter therefore has fewer funded competitors despite attracting substantial capital.
| Accounting category | Companies | Deals | Capital raised | Median deal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tax Accounting AI | 31 | 35 | $784.79M | $11.47M |
| AI Bookkeeping | 27 | 35 | $611.01M | $7.70M |
| Financial Close Automation | 10 | 17 | $385.75M | $10.00M |
| Audit & Compliance AI | 18 | 20 | $350.15M | $6.28M |
| Accounts Receivable Automation | 18 | 23 | $332.89M | $7.00M |
| Accounting Copilots & Workflow | 17 | 19 | $331.65M | $4.37M |
| Accounts Payable Automation | 6 | 7 | $191.80M | $7.00M |
| Reconciliation Automation | 2 | 3 | $100.00M | $30.00M |
Why are tax accounting AI startups raising so much money?
Tax accounting AI has become the biggest funded category partly because it addresses expensive, recurring work where mistakes can have serious financial consequences.
Blue J provides a good example. The company raised $122 million in a Series D led by Oak HC/FT and Sapphire Ventures in August 2025. It reported doubling both revenue and its customer base during the first half of that year, with its AI platform helping tax professionals research complicated tax questions.
Fonoa tackles a different problem. Its $110 million financing in May 2026 accompanied the acquisition of PwC's Indirect Tax Edge software. The company is building technology that connects tax determination, e-invoicing, reporting and compliance across jurisdictions.
These products address work that businesses cannot simply abandon when budgets become tight. Tax rules continue changing, filings must be completed and cross-border businesses face increasingly complex obligations.
Regulation helps explain some of the demand, but we should also look at how these products are sold. A tool that becomes embedded in a tax department's daily workflow can potentially generate recurring revenue from customers who depend on it.
Another advantage is distribution through established accounting firms. Blue J has worked with professional-services networks including KPMG and RSM, giving the company access to clients already spending heavily on tax expertise.
Among the eight accounting categories, tax currently has the strongest combination of funded company breadth, proven enterprise demand and substantial financing.

Are investors backing AI accounting copilots or companies trying to replace QuickBooks and NetSuite?
The biggest AI accounting checks are increasingly going to companies building complete financial platforms, while smaller startups often concentrate on automating particular accounting tasks.
Rillet illustrates the platform approach. In August 2026, the company announced a $100 million Series C led by ICONIQ at a $1 billion valuation, bringing its lifetime funding above $200 million.
At the time, Rillet reported more than 600 customers and said it had doubled new annual recurring revenue over the preceding three months. Its platform combines a general ledger, accounting integrations, financial controls and AI agents.
The company explicitly targets businesses running older ERP systems, including Oracle Fusion, SAP, Workday and NetSuite.
Campfire is pursuing a related opportunity. In October 2025, it announced a $65 million Series B co-led by Accel and Ribbit Capital, bringing the amount raised in just twelve weeks to $100 million.
These businesses are competing for a much larger share of the finance department's software budget than a standalone accounting assistant might capture.
The financing difference is already visible. Accounting Copilots & Workflow has a median round of $4.37 million, while Financial Close Automation reaches $10 million. Some AI-native ERP businesses have secured substantially more.
Replacing a core accounting system offers the possibility of a large, deeply integrated customer relationship. The catch is the amount of engineering, implementation work and customer support required to get there.
Is accounts payable AI really attracting huge investments?
Accounts payable AI has produced one exceptional financing, but the wider category remains relatively small.
Xelix raised $160 million in July 2025 in a Series B led by Insight Partners. That single transaction represents approximately 83.4% of the $191.8 million recorded for Accounts Payable Automation.
The company helps enterprise finance teams detect invoice errors, identify suspicious supplier activity, automate reconciliation and improve payment controls. Its financing was intended to accelerate product development and expansion.
Xelix shows that investors will commit very large amounts to an established accounts-payable platform with a substantial enterprise proposition.
But the remaining five companies in the category account for only $31.8 million combined. The category's apparent strength would look dramatically different without Xelix.
Reconciliation Automation has a similar concentration problem. Its $100 million total comes from only three transactions involving two companies.
For now, tax accounting and bookkeeping offer stronger evidence of widespread funding. Accounts payable has demonstrated what one particularly successful company can achieve.

In our research about AI accounting tools, we look at what the winners do differently, so you can learn from the best instead of guessing.
Are AI accounting investors funding new startups or mostly giving more money to existing ones?
Most AI accounting funding now goes to companies that have already raised money, even though new startups continue attracting first-time investors.
We identified 64 first-financing transactions, representing approximately 40% of all recorded deals. Those financings total just $303.32 million.
By comparison, 95 follow-on transactions account for $2.78 billion, or approximately 90% of market capital.
A first financing has a median size of $3.85 million, compared with $18 million for a follow-on. Investors are therefore writing substantially larger checks when companies return for additional funding.
The pace of repeated fundraising can sometimes be remarkable. Rillet announced its $25 million Series A and $70 million Series B roughly ten weeks apart in 2025. Campfire also announced $100 million of fundraising across a very short period that year.
These cases show how quickly capital can become available when a company demonstrates strong commercial traction and convinces several prominent investors.
But those fundraising stories are exceptional. Only 17.8% of the companies in our research have more than one financing recorded during the period.
How old are AI accounting startups when they start raising serious money?
AI accounting companies are typically only two years old when they raise financing, but businesses receiving checks above $50 million have a median age of five years.
We calculated company age from the founding year and financing date wherever reliable information was available. Across 142 usable records, the average age at financing is approximately 2.92 years.
Seed-stage companies have a median age of one year, while Series A companies typically reach two years. By Series B, the median rises to 5.5 years.
There's also a difference between product categories. Accounting copilots have a median financing age of around one year, compared with approximately four years for financial close and accounts payable companies.
That makes commercial sense. A young company can demonstrate an AI tool for extracting invoices or answering accounting questions relatively quickly. Replacing a company's financial system usually involves longer product development, complex integrations and customer trust.
Rillet is an interesting exception to the slower progression normally associated with enterprise software. The company moved through several substantial financings rapidly, backed by reported customer expansion.
Overall, the biggest checks tend to arrive after companies have had several years to build a business.

In our market report about AI accounting tools, we don't want to repeat what boring consulting reports say. Instead, we show you the real and latest market signals that matter.
Why do so few AI accounting startups reach Series C?
Series C is still an uncommon fundraising milestone in AI accounting, with only six recorded Series C transactions compared with 19 Series B rounds and 85 Seed rounds.
The number of transactions shrinks significantly as financing stages advance. Series A accounts for 35 deals, Series B for 19, Series C for six and Series D+ for two.
At the same time, financing sizes rise sharply. The median Series A is $18 million, the median Series B reaches $38 million, and the median Series C is $100 million.
Among transactions with a known stage, early-stage rounds represent 80% of the deal count but receive only 39.8% of capital. Later-stage financings account for the majority of the money.
We should be careful about treating these numbers as a survival rate. Many companies founded in 2023, 2024 or 2025 have simply not had much time to reach Series C. Other businesses may raise growth equity or use different financing structures.
Even so, the current funding ladder is clearly much narrower at the top. Large conventional venture rounds are available to a small group of established companies.
| Financing stage | Deals | Capital raised | Median deal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seed | 85 | $445.48M | $4.37M |
| Series A | 35 | $739.17M | $18.00M |
| Series B | 19 | $980.13M | $38.00M |
| Series C | 6 | $540.00M | $100.00M |
| Series D+ | 2 | $222.00M | $111.00M |
| Growth Equity | 3 | $48.10M | $20.00M |
| Unknown | 9 | $113.16M | $4.53M |
Is AI accounting funding growing steadily or jumping whenever a big company raises money?
AI accounting funding has been uneven, with relatively regular monthly deal activity and occasional large financings that produce sharp jumps in the amount invested.
Across completed months in our research period, we recorded an average of 4.72 deals and $88.96 million per month. The median month contained four deals and $65.88 million.
February 2025 and April 2026 were the busiest completed months, with ten financings each.
July 2025 tells a different story. Only seven deals occurred, but they added up to $268.77 million, making it the largest completed month by capital. Xelix's financing accounted for around 60% of that amount.
We've seen a similar pattern with other large transactions. Rillet, Blue J and Fonoa can all materially change the apparent financing activity of a month through a single announcement.
The monthly numbers show an active market with bursts of major financing. They don't establish that the amount of capital available has been increasing smoothly.
For founders, the frequency of deals is probably more useful than the occasional spectacular monthly total when judging the fundraising environment.

Learning from others' mistakes is the cheapest lesson there is. In our document detailing everything you need to know about AI accounting, we look at what broke startups before you, so you don't repeat it.
Is the US taking most of the AI accounting funding?
North America currently dominates AI accounting fundraising, receiving approximately $2.18 billion, or 70.7% of all recorded capital.
The region accounts for 88 transactions across 66 companies. The United States alone contributes 87 of those deals and approximately $2.06 billion.
Europe ranks second with $711.35 million across 52 transactions and 46 businesses. Its startup population is substantial, but the typical European financing is much smaller.
We calculated a North American median deal of $14 million, compared with $4.29 million in Europe.
The UK, Ireland and the Netherlands account for particularly large European totals. But their figures depend heavily on individual companies: Xelix represents 67.4% of UK funding, Fonoa accounts for 78.6% of Ireland's, and DataSnipper contributes around 85% of the Netherlands' total.
Elsewhere, Latin America recorded $94.8 million across five deals, Asia-Pacific $60.73 million across eight, and the Middle East $37.75 million across six.
The contrast is clearest in the largest transactions. Neither Asia-Pacific nor the Middle East recorded a financing above $50 million, while North America hosts many of the market's biggest rounds.
The US has a substantial lead in both the amount of capital available and the size of the typical investment.
Which venture capital firms are funding AI accounting startups the most?
Lightspeed Venture Partners and Accel are currently the most active disclosed lead investors in our AI accounting research, each appearing in six rounds.
General Catalyst follows with five, while Khosla Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz each appear in four.
These investors are active across different parts of the accounting market. Lightspeed has backed companies in audit, bookkeeping, financial close and accounts receivable. Accel's activity includes accounting copilots and AI-native financial platforms, while General Catalyst appears across tax, bookkeeping and other finance workflows.
Some investors have fewer transactions but are linked to much larger rounds.
Insight Partners appears in two lead or co-lead financings worth $260 million combined, including Xelix. ICONIQ appears in two totaling $170 million, including Rillet.
The total value of a round should not be confused with an investor's actual commitment, particularly when several firms co-lead or participate.
We identified 141 distinct disclosed lead-investor names after separating named co-leads, with 24 appearing more than once. That leaves a fairly broad investor base alongside a smaller group of firms repeatedly making decisions in the category.
Founders aren't limited to a handful of accounting specialists. Several major venture firms already have experience backing different AI accounting business models.

If you build or invest in the AI accounting market, you need to know which business models pay off now and which ones are fading. That's why our report covering it has a whole section on it.
Are big accounting and enterprise software companies investing in AI startups too?
Strategic investors are increasingly visible in AI accounting, particularly around tax, audit and financial close, although they appear in only 18 of the 159 recorded financings.
Those transactions have a median size of $19 million, compared with $7 million for financings without a recorded corporate investor.
Thomson Reuters is especially active. We identified four strategic appearances by Thomson Reuters Ventures and another direct Thomson Reuters appearance.
The company announced a new $150 million venture fund in February 2025, targeting areas including tax and accounting, FinTech and compliance. It also acquired Additive, an AI tax-document processing startup, in September 2025.
The acquisition is especially revealing. Additive automates difficult tax-document workflows, including Schedule K-1 processing. Thomson Reuters can put that technology in front of an established base of professional customers.
Other strategic participants in our research include Workday Ventures, Vertex, SAP and financial institutions such as Citi and State Street.
Corporate participation is still a minority of funding activity, but established software and financial-services companies are clearly paying attention to startups working on their customers' existing problems.
We cannot determine from these figures whether a corporate investor causes a company to raise more. Larger, more established startups may simply be more likely to attract strategic backers.
Can a small AI accounting startup still compete with companies raising $100 million?
Small AI accounting startups still have room to enter the market, especially when they target a specific accounting problem that existing software handles poorly.
The financing data supports that view. More than one-third of deals are below $5 million, and 71.1% of transactions are smaller than $20 million.
Accordance offers one example of a more focused approach. In September 2025, it announced $13 million in total funding, comprising a $10 million seed round and an earlier $3 million pre-seed. Its product helps tax and accounting professionals research complicated technical questions.
DataSnipper offers another useful lesson, although at a much more mature stage. The company began with tools that made audit evidence collection and verification easier, then expanded into a broader automation platform. Its $100 million Series B in February 2024 came after years of product development and customer adoption.
Meanwhile, Rillet and Campfire are pursuing larger ERP opportunities from an earlier point in their business development.
These examples suggest several possible paths. A startup can concentrate on one difficult workflow, build distribution through accounting professionals, or develop a broader platform as customers demand more capabilities.
The harder challenge comes when a company wants to become the system that finance teams depend on every day. That requires a level of product reliability, integration, support and customer trust that can take years to build.

In our research about AI accounting tools, we like to show you the big picture. We know your time is precious, so we make every page quick to read and packed with as much learning as possible per minute.
What is still missing from the AI accounting funding market?
AI accounting currently has relatively few large, late-stage companies outside North America, along with several product categories that contain only a handful of funded startups.
The small number of Series C and Series D+ deals shows that the market has yet to produce a broad population of companies repeatedly accessing the largest financing rounds.
Some categories also look surprisingly narrow. Accounts Payable Automation has six funded companies in our classification, and Reconciliation Automation has only two. These areas are important to finance departments, but their specialized AI funding populations remain small.
There's another limitation worth understanding. Some businesses combine AI software with accounting services, broader ERP products, banking or payments. Multiplier Holdings, for example, operates accounting practices rather than solely selling a standalone software product.
That makes market boundaries important. A narrower definition focused entirely on pure-play accounting software could change the category totals and some of the rankings.
The treatment of individual transactions also deserves attention. We isolated Fondo's equity component from its debt financing and excluded the acquisition facility from Limetax's headline funding package.
Stuut presents a more difficult case. Its September 2026 Form D filing records an offering of approximately $67.6 million, while the company subsequently announced a $52.5 million Series B in October. The relationship between those disclosures requires careful reconciliation before assuming they represent separate financings.
These limitations are especially relevant when comparing the market's largest transactions. The financing picture is substantial, but precision at the individual-deal level remains important.
What should we actually take away from the AI accounting funding data?
AI accounting is already a well-funded technology market with a broad startup population, but the largest investors are concentrating their money on companies that can become central to how businesses manage their finances.
Our research covers 129 funded companies across eight accounting categories. Most businesses have received relatively modest checks, while a smaller group has attracted tens or hundreds of millions.
Tax AI and bookkeeping have the strongest combination of company breadth and capital. Financial close has fewer companies but meaningful funding depth. Accounts payable has attracted one exceptional investment through Xelix, although the wider category remains much smaller.
The market is also young. Companies typically raise their first significant money within a few years of founding, and most recorded transactions fall into Seed or Series A. Large Series C and later financings remain uncommon.
The companies attracting the biggest commitments are often going after complicated, recurring financial operations. Rillet wants to replace core accounting systems, Fonoa is building connected global tax infrastructure, and Blue J is embedding AI into professional tax research.
We also see established venture firms returning across several accounting applications, while corporate investors are selectively backing technologies that could strengthen their existing products or distribution networks.
The clearest dividing line today is between startups that help accountants complete particular tasks and businesses that aim to control substantial parts of the accounting workflow.
Both can attract funding. But the largest checks are increasingly associated with companies that convince investors they can become essential financial infrastructure.

When you build or invest in the AI accounting market, you need clarity, not confusion. In our market report about AI accounting tools, we always try to put numbers on and quantify whatever is usually vague and confusing.
Our methodology
This AI accounting funding tracker examines private-company financing in the AI accounting market between January 1, 2024, and September 23, 2026, inclusive. We analyzed 159 financing records covering 129 distinct companies and approximately $3.09 billion in recorded funding. Our objective was to measure how capital is distributed across companies, financing stages, accounting applications, investors and regions, rather than treating the market's aggregate funding as representative of a typical startup.
Our primary research source was our AI accounting market funding data, supplemented by company announcements, investor disclosures and regulatory filings. We included businesses where AI-enabled accounting, tax, bookkeeping, audit, financial close, reconciliation, accounts payable or accounts receivable represented a meaningful part of their activities. Companies combining accounting software with broader ERP, payments or technology-enabled services were assessed under the same market classification framework.
Each qualifying financing was recorded separately, while duplicate announcements of the same round were consolidated. We sought to isolate equity financing from identifiable debt, acquisition facilities and other non-equity components. Financing amounts disclosed in foreign currencies were converted to approximate USD equivalents, and disclosed minimum amounts were retained as lower bounds. We used reported financing stages and investor roles where supported by public evidence, without inferring undisclosed amounts or treating ordinary investor participation as confirmed leadership.
Company identities were normalized to account for rebranding and naming differences. First-financing and follow-on classifications were based on available public funding histories. Company ages were calculated using reliable founding years and financing dates, with uncertain records excluded. Our analysis covers deal-size distributions, median and average financing sizes, cumulative company funding within the research window, category and geographic concentration, financing stages, investor frequency and monthly activity. All company funding rankings refer to the research period, not lifetime capital raised.
We also tested funding concentration by removing exceptionally large financings and comparing the remaining market with the headline total. Particular attention was given to transactions involving multiple financing closes, debt-inclusive announcements and regulatory disclosures. Fondo and Limetax were assessed to separate identifiable equity from other financing components. We also reviewed Stuut's September 2026 SEC Form D alongside its October 2026 Series B announcement to evaluate the relationship between those disclosures without automatically counting them as separate financings.
Key company-level sources include Rillet's August 2026 Series C announcement, Xelix's Series B announcement, Blue J's Series D disclosure, Fonoa's financing and acquisition announcement, Campfire's Series B disclosure, DataSnipper's $100 million financing announcement, and Accordance's funding announcement. For strategic investment activity, we also used Thomson Reuters' venture fund announcement and its acquisition disclosure for Additive.
Market-wide statistics were calculated from the research database, with primary-source announcements used to validate material transactions and operating details. Funding totals are approximate where currency conversions, minimum disclosures or complex financing structures affect precision. The resulting figures describe recorded financing activity within the stated window and should not be interpreted as independently audited equity proceeds or a complete measure of every company's lifetime funding.
